That veterancy makes the unit much more durable,l it is the opposite of squishy. The fact that the Captain can damage so many units causes it to vet up extremely quickly and easily. Obers will of course tear it up, like they tear up all infantry, but I still think the Captain is superior to the Obers because the more costly Obers have no answer for armor, while the Captain is quite effective v. In my last game I had a Captain unit in hard cover force two Ferdinands to back off.Īgainst infantry it can compete against Sturms or Volks, because the unit has long and short range weaponry. I have had success with the Captain killing or forcing to back off all German armor with the exception of the Panther, which frankly no USF unit can go up against 1:1. ![]() And if the Captain is behind hard cover or micro'ed properly, it can go toe to toe with even heavy armor, especially because most German heavy armor is quite poor v. Zooks are not great, but two zooks are deadly against light armor. ![]() This makes the unit remarkably effective against a variety of threats. For 280 points (80 of which is fuel to unlock) you get an infantry unit with 5 troopers, 2 bazookas, Garands, and Thompsons. It is the Swiss army knife of infantry in CoH2. ![]() I don't think the Captain gets enough love as a stand alone unit. ![]()
